The
Mobius Survivalist Fact Sheet
It has come to my attention that people really do not understand the full implications of the changes to come regarding their lifestyles and ability to do without. Why should they! The bulk of the American people have had an average of 350 slaves at their beck and command on a daily basis that they call upon, not even realizing they do so. What slaves?! Try your electric and mechanical ones, the ones you never really even think about. Have you ever heard children whine and cry because the battery ran down in some toy or computerized game? Well, you have never heard anything until you take away a woman's toilet, washing machine, clothes dryer, dishwasher, freezer, hot water, television soap opera, and electric or gas stove just for starters. Then there is dear old dad's car, truck, powered lawn mower, power tools, fishing tackle, computer, chain saw, brush cutter, rototiller, ammunition, bowling alley and beer. Forget the V.C.R., stereo setup and most radios, as well as the electric light bulb and space heater. The credit card is defunct and manufactured clothes are out. That goes for shoes also. How is this done? MERELY CUT THE ELECTRICAL POWER!
This winter in this country the American people and the Canadians got a little taste of just what serious damage to power systems can do to them, and these were not long term problems over several months or most likely years. Who in America can get along without these things...? Try the Amish for one and you had better start studying their lifestyle and using the same products they do or at least purchasing them for backup. Have you ever heard of the sickle and scythe? The trowel and shovel? The ax and crosscut saw? The lowly hoe... Forget feminine napkins and razor blades. How are you going to wash your hair and trim your nails? Who is going to make your scissors for you? Where are you going to get your cloth to make clothes and the needles you will need to sew them...? How long do you thing everything we have on hand is going to last after the crunch I am predicting? Where are you going to get your medical supplies? THE ENTIRE MANUFACTURING BASE OF THIS COUNTRY WILL CEASE TO FUNCTION! DISTRIBUTION WILL COME TO A HALT! ALL BECAUSE OF POWER FAILURE, TORN UP ROADS AND BRIDGES, AND THE DEATHS OF KEY PERSONAL...
We are now on a national power grid, and it can be likened to an engine room in a ship that relies on at least two generators running in parallel on what we call a synchronized electrical board. Most of the time the power can be supplied by one unit, but the times comes when all the cranes, the hydraulics and refrigeration compressors must come on, as well as the deck lighting. This is called a work load. Now we need two units and they are like a tandem team of horses pulling the increased amperage load. If for some reason one genset fails, the other tries to hold the load; the switching gear determines it cannot, and the main breakers kick out killing all power on the vessel until emergency lighting takes over. The lighting provides just enough power so the engineers can fix the problem. This flow of things occurs if one is lucky. If one set burns up or shuts down because of mechanical problems and destroys the controller board, the ship is in serious trouble because the other generators cannot be used until the panel is rewired. Once this is done the vessel is still crippled as all the machinery that is normally used cannot be all turned on at once. Some years back in the State of Washington, we were told to cut back our consumption of power during the Christmas season because of an energy shortage, when in fact the Pacific Northwest had more then ample power. The savings were shunted to California, sold by the kilowatt hour at three times what the Bonneville was authorized to charge in the Pacific Northwest, and when my wife and I drove down to Arizona through California, we found the entire state lit up like Los Vegas. Climbing out of the San Joaquin Valley heading for Barstow, the individual and small company owned windmill generators were only putting out about 50% at the top of the pass that leads into the high desert. The rest were secured. What was the deal? The wind generating units, which were privately owned at that time, were negotiating for price, so to drive down the asking cost of a kilowatt hour, power was purchased from Bonneville and the California producers were told there was a market overage.
It was a test to see how much power could be shunted around, if the people would be responsive to an emergency, and it gave the excuse to raise the power rates in the Pacific Northwest to reflect what Con Edison, Westinghouse and other private suppliers were charging elsewhere in places like California and New York. As soon as word got around, the people in the Pacific Northwest blew their stacks and one of the results was the default of bonds on the Satsop Nuke power plant, as we locally watched the big game of purposely designed strikes and padding which had made the proposed construction costs soar out of sight, orchestrated by the corrupt eastern moguls and labor unions. It was a game to them and they were going to show the hicks out west just how this was traditionally done. Their game backfired because the costly delays to pad the pork barrel allowed the anti-nuke activists additional ammunition to bring the industry down, and justifiably so. After the shut down people decided to put in private power much like the California people did when they put up the wind generators, making their homes more efficient, and when they tried to sell the surplus back to the power companies, all hell broke loose. Citing expenses and so on, the power companies took this sell back idea to court and screamed bloody murder, to produce the ensuing verdict. The small home supplier would only be allowed a fraction of what they actually produced and shunted back to the power grid, were effectively buried with paperwork, and found even more road blocks by way of PUD inspectors who were not qualified to issue permits as they were just as confused as the rest. Someone came up with the idea of the smart, tightly sealed home with R-factors that would serve in a freezer plant operation. We went to 2X6 wall studding, insulated our floors under the building and hot water tanks, switched to fluorescent lighting where we could, put in insulated windows with double or triple panes of glass and doubled the roof heat loss protection. Many added auxiliary wood stoves which had catalytic converters on them. The power companies responded by putting a minimum usage charge on the homes and penalized the home dwellers for not using enough power while they sold the other savings to California again, the net effect of selling it once at a mandatory rate and selling it again on the open market. Now just who owns the Bonneville Power Administration? Who owned the Tennessee Valley Authority! You guessed it, the Federal Government. The big boys in New York were going to get their money back one way or another. Because of Satsop cost overruns and Three Mile Island, the public realized it cost as much to shut a 25-35 year old nuke plant down as it did to build it, something that would raise the rates twice more and this would occur every 25-30 years. The problem with waste also became a game. The French had a patented system on inerting the radioactive waste by vitrification into glass marbles that would prevent contamination of ground water. The U.S. spent billions trying to get around the patent and nothing better has materialized. This also largely went to Westinghouse and Con Edison. Meanwhile we have not built another nuke plant in the United States, though Westinghouse and Con Edison are active on the world market. The radioactive contamination in the ground water around Hanford, WA., will reach the Columbia River in roughly 5 years. We are told one gallon of used motor oil will contaminate 1 million gallons of water. The Hanford Reservation has leaked millions of gallons of radioactive waste into the ground water and surrounding soil already and it is heading for the Columbia River at a frightening rate. The government tried to surpress this knowledge from the public as well as the site workers, and it has just recently all come out. It must also be noted that the bulk of all the cover-up and energy power games came from the Republican administrations, though certain Democrats were also on the payola of the nuclear lobbyists. The present administration is far more informative about government mistakes than most have been. Since that time Westinghouse has firmed their position up by purchasing one of the major television networks and now is in control of a good portion of your news media. Now let us step back in time a little bit.
THE ENERGY FUEL CRISIS: Richard Nixon through Gerald Ford resulted in the tripling of fuel prices. The check on automotive consumption really occurs by way of the Jimmy Carter who put the teeth in the automotive laws. Everything before that was more or less lip service to make the American auto manufacturer appear better than it actually was. Japan, on the other hand, gave us the cars we really needed and met the pollution requirements the Americans claimed were impossible, resulting in major corporate shakeups in the American auto manufacturing business. Meanwhile during this period of time the various petroleum companies quietly buy up the coal fields as nuclear power comes to an American standstill and the American public still shells out to pay the board of directors for Westinghouse and other power suppliers their bloated salaries. Electrical power sell back was effectively killed during Reagan years, supporting big power business, and remains in effect today...
Because of this we are more dependent than ever on the power grid, and as soon as major suppliers are knocked off the line, the more drastic the rate of substation burnout follows. Like dominos, the entire system fails. Now just try to get out of a city that has no functioning traffic lights and try to fuel up when the electric pumps at the service stations are dead...
Can you build and easily maintain a self contained home which relies on no outside energy and yet is modernly functional? YES! A fully electrical home with water well would require about 5-10 KW max., as long as energy discretion was used. Depending where it was built depends upon natural energy source used. Pelton wheels, which powered many older Alaskan canneries, do a wonderful job if one has a 200 foot high source of water and respectable volume. Mountain country is good for this. The water would have to run year round without freezing. No batteries would be required. Wind and battery banks is an option, but most deep cycle batteries have a limited lifetime. Can simple batteries be made with natural products? YES! All that is required is dissimilar metals, glass jars and acid fruits which produce vinegar when fermented, something that was used for metal plating processes before Christ. To keep power consumption down even more, The Whole Earth Catalog had many suppliers of long life florescent low voltage and current lights and fixtures. Why would you find this hard to do? First of all, forget a bank loan to do this. If you are not hooked to public utilities the banks in general are not interested in helping you. Now for your building permits... Most codes do not cover this type of material and they "freeze" you out with months of delay and foot dragging in general. Now there is a way around this, and that is to wire to code and make a couple of changes after the inspection is passed. This will occur at your panel box. Any good electrician worth his salt can help plan and do this for you if it is beyond your capability. Get the message?
How about a fast, very protected earth home in a remote area requiring minimum of power with all the modern comforts... Buy yourself a used trailer and on a piece of carefully chosen land not prone to floods, rent a back hoe and dig yourself a trench large enough to hold the trailer. Reinforce the sides with concrete and rebar, allow for entrance and exit (Two) as well as ventilation and septic tank, drill your well or allow for other water sources and add a reinforced roof that earth can be safely moved back over. Add power to suit...
If you are in a car when a solar flare hits, turn the air-conditioning on max. and find some quick shade to park under as atmospheric temps are liable to briefly soar to temps in excess 150 degrees...
What are those old cars good for after the earth shakeup? The radios and stereo systems are twelve volt. The alternator has a built in regulator and diodes supply D.C. power. It can be turned with wind or water power through gears, and the cars gear train including the transmission / clutch may be used for all types of power applications. Now the heater is also powered by a twelve volt fan, and the car has a battery which may or may not be serviceable. if it came equipped with an air-conditioning unit you have the makings of a refrigerator. The wheels may be used for carts and anything else wheel technology is called for. There are lights that can be used in a pinch. By heating water and circulating the hot liquid through the heater and radiator, you have heat. The machine is loaded with all types of gears and control systems, wire and glass. While the engine itself may be broken, it is full of parts that can be turned into many interesting items, including fish hooks. This machine some environmentalists look down their noses at because it is "politically correct and camp" to do so, is your source of nuts, bolts, washers, springs and screws. Power seats and windows supply small gear trains which are motor / cable driven and run on twelve volt power. These units can be used to power simple devices such as small lathes or sewing machines. The seats can be used as furniture. Buy heating the springs and / or bumpers an letting them slowly cool, you have annealed them or rendered the "soft". Then with a good file or even a rock, cutting edges may be formed. Using additional heat to reshape them, tools can be made and retempered by heating the newly shaped metal red hot and carefully cooling it in water, making a good, hard, tough knife, ax or saw. The vehicle has a fuel tank that may be cleaned out and used for many things. It has a lug wrench and a jack. Even if the rubber tires are shot, by burning them you will find a source of construction wire. Hung in a tree, they become a child's play swing. The brake system supplies hydraulic controls and press units. The power steering pump is also a source of hydraulic power. It also provides small mirrors. In short, that car is a precious treasure, a survivalist dream come true. All you have to do is be able to get it apart when it is considered no longer serviceable for what is was intended for. Now try to do that with a bicycle...
When my son Brian was sixteen, he and the captain's son sailed with us on a cargo trip to the Yukon river in Alaska. One day when the boys were bored, I took them down to the machine shop an handed them an old engine stud from a Fairbanks Morse. I asked him what it was, "A stud bolt", he replied. "No it isn't, it's a cannon..." I told him. "It is a pistol barrel, it is a rifle bolt..." and pointed to the drill press and other tools we had available on the Aleut Packer. By the time the trip was finished, it was a .50 caliber cannon set up for a percussion cap, with a spring loaded firing mechanism, had elevation range screws, and was firmly placed on a carriage with wheels made from two small stainless steel water pump impellers. My son still fires it with black powder to this very day and he was born in 1963 so that makes him 34 years old now. Its range is well over a mile and it is a beautiful piece of work. You can now hand Brian a piece of junk and he will turn it into something unique and very functional. The artist in him also makes it look good...
Some misguided people feel we should all turn in our firearms because they are dangerous. They are correct about the danger, and some of these very "Camp" deep thinkers drive on our public highways like maniacs while talking on their cellular phones about this question. They eat steak but never have butchered an animal for food, staring into its glazing lifeless eyes and remembering how beautiful it was running through the woods, or how friendly it was following you around like a dog because you hand fed it when it was a calf. They never smell the odor of the blood and feces, and a tear never runs down their cheek, nor do they pray for the animal's soul like the Indian does. These people live in their own little dream world and that world is going to end terribly for them. They call genocide "ethnic cleansing" and they are so very wrong that one wonders just what motivates them. Most of them call themselves "Liberals". The other side of the coin is just as bad and call themselves "Conservatives". I call them both stupid. Someplace in between the truth lies, just as it always has. Weapons don't kill people, people kill people and I do not advocate violence. You will find most of your police officers do not advocate you disarm yourselves, and neither do the military. I suggest you buy a good deer rifle, shotgun, reloading equipment and hand gun. Well you are at it, a good bow, crossbow and arrows will come in handy. You do not need a machine gun! You need something that will last, is effective at long range, and enables you to provide meat as an alternative source of protein. You also do not need a cannon for a deer rifle. Your best all around rifle should be .308 or .30 caliber. A good .22 always is handy for small game and teaching purposes, but you cannot reload the ammo so really stock up on this small caliber item. The best all around shotgun is a 12 Ga. Why a hand gun? They come in handy in the woods, and you will need personal defense protection. A good old fashioned revolver is best, and if you are in bear country, I suggest a .44 mag. as animals are getting more and more aggressive now. The only drawback to such a hand cannon is its weight. You are looking at 4.5 lbs. loaded. No quick draw there. In reality a .38 is still a better choice and I would prefer a .22 magnum but again the ammo cannot be reloaded.
I also suggest getting good fishing gear and a small lightweight boat if you are in the right location and can afford one. Your source of power will be a small electric trolling motor and oars. They make solar battery chargers, by the way, and the only battery to own is a deep cycle sportsman's battery. Delco make an excellent one, and if you live in Grays Harbor county, Harbor Battery is your best purchase. You should even replace your car or truck battery with this type. These will hold up in the desert or the arctic and properly maintained, last for years because the plates are so heavy. Batteries like "Die Hards" have more cranking power but will not hold up to constant recharging and discharging because the plates are so thin they buckle after hard usage. Are you thinking about getting a new vehicle or a good used one you can fix up? Car, truck or van, you would be wise to think about four wheel drive and diesel. The economy on the new ones is good on the open road and they can pull and pack big loads. Buy some mountain bikes also, if you have the money. Single, footloose and fancy free? Like to travel light? A motorcycle may best suit you if you are young, and not a Gold Wing either. Choose your accessories carefully... You have the advantage of speed, maneuverability and economy. Your disadvantage is protection from the elements and a built in survival kit ala parts after you arrive at your chosen destination. Your pack should be much like that of a high country hiker.
Now some of you are going to read this and cry "foul!" because these machines pollute the world and this has caused a goodly portion of our problems in the first place. When all the volcanos go off and all the factories and refineries shut down, believe me when I say the world will not even notice. You do not rebuild the world until you first survive the fast changes. Have you seen all those big fuel tanks which hold millions of gallons of petroleum products at most port facilities? What do you think is going to happen to them when tidal waves strike? What happens when all the oil well heads shear off when the San Andreas fault has a major shift? What about the natural gas pipe lines and oil pipe lines like the ones in Alaska? Will the automatic emergency shutoff work fast enough, or are these items depended upon electrical power that is suddenly going to fail? Many of the auto safety devices and valves used in industry are electrically dependent. Most automatically close upon power failure. Many do not... How long is it going to take the world to heal from all the radioactive waste and other chemicals that are going to be spilled? How many nuclear sites do we have in the world and what do you think is going to happen in Russia when the old reactors go haywire all at once? If most of Japan suddenly ends up in the sea as predicted, just what do you think all of those reactors that could not be properly shut down are going to do? Chernobyl is going to look like a minor incident... The northern hemisphere of this planet is ringed with nuclear fission sites and many of them are old now. New or old, the northern air currents will assure we all get our daily dose of radiation. The reactors that end up in the sea off the coast of Japan will assure the upper Pacific and ultimately the southern waters of the same sea get their dose also. This is why many people are moving to South America and Australia. There is one little problem and that is due to a pole shift and changed weather patterns. About 30 degrees should take care of it. No one is going to escape Scot free... This is why we are going to have to get off the surface for awhile. It has been said that those beings from other planets have already done this. Perhaps we should take note and follow suit. Where could we build an underground city? A huge dome city could be placed in the open pit copper mine we know as Anaconda located in Montana. It would be quite a project, but most of the digging has already been done.
If the new world changes are as bad some people besides myself are predicting, places like Mount Weather and Cheyenne mountain will be full of those people the government contingency plans call for, but you are not talking about that many out of the total population of this country. Those holes in the ground will also be dependent upon time factors, and well may have to replenish themselves from the surface. Now how would these leaders under these grim circumstances insure there would be anything left for them to use? Thin the scavenging population before it can destroy precious items, power systems and manufacturing bases... That means as the cities which hold the key manufacturing / distribution places for goods become unlivable, they have to be secured. Other supply caches have to be guarded or firmly secured by other lethal means. The lessons of Watts and Detroit have been already noted. The military personal by in large also will be expendable on the surface, helping out except for a small, powerfully armed elite cadre. A little black helicopter here and there with strains of fast acting influenza, which is suspected to have been already tested in certain localities in low strengths, is one sure bet, as well as poison gas to quickly eliminate destructive pest problems. You may rest assured this type of repugnant planning has been waiting off stage for some time to be released, the product of some elitist think tank, and no one liked the idea that had to be. Think of it like a sinking ship with only room for one percent in the life boats, but the ship will stay afloat if everything is jettisoned that is not needed until the pumps catch up, including most of the other passengers. When the ship has cleared its overload and has been stabilized, those in the life boats (The Chosen Ones) can come back on board and sail to safety.
This will not be widespread, just in the areas deemed most important for those in the ground as well as what is respectively organizing on the surface. The best bet is to get out of the cities and as quickly as possible. The scum of the cities will have a field day at first, but it will be short lived. First the gas, then the germs and all will wait until the bodies decompose to nothing too bad to contend with. About 2-3 years should do this and most machinery will still be serviceable. The ensuing cannibalism before this occurs will speed the process up to a large degree as nothing spreads disease as fast as "man meat". The rats, insects and other animals will feed well for awhile until pesticides are sprayed again. Natural or man made corpses, the resulting stench is going to be awful...
It is all rather grim without even thinking of the above horrors for those who have not had any experience of country life and its hard but gratifying manual labor, and many will opt for suicide. With no servants to care for them and no value to their diamonds and other jewels, and little or no training in handling the grim realities of life, they will feel totally lost. Many will flee to other countries like South America, only to meet the horror there. They will know themselves for who they are and must be respected for their views and decisions. Those who are wealthy are in the best position to prepare and should do so, putting your money in safe areas with all the latest survival amenities. If you do not make it, at least someone else can always move in. Many others will be feeble and sickly, as well as on life support systems. Some will be so terribly injured they realize there is no other way out. Believe me when I say the end of physical life is not the end... and they will be back sometime, someplace, if they choose. Expect the losses of 3 billion people world wide just due to disease alone as bacteria and viruses respect no borders and travel around the world in hours this day and age. (90 % of the world population will not be vaccinated and the immunization drugs will quickly run out.) The rest of us will wipe our tears and continue on until it is our time to pass.
Now how are you going to evade the bugs if you are lucky enough to avoid the potential government "pest" program? Find isolated out of the way spots and keep a very low profile while under self quarantine. Do not call attention to yourselves as some very strange looking craft will also be flying around. (Some say to help but I would not be too sure of that.) Helping insure the survival of the planet may just well start with the eradication of you and your family for the "greater good of all"...
Those who use this site, Art Bell, Stormwatch, Stan Deyo and Troubled Times for information, following the instructions in preparation and keeping their inoculations updated will have a real edge. Some areas you will find as you seek shelter will be open staging areas and some will be "Closed Camp". Approaching a closed camp unannounced is a sure way to end up dead, family at your side not withstanding. Closed camp areas screen people for useful occupations, goods and health problems. Some will be invited in and some will not depending upon skills which are your best bargaining point. Degrees in philosophy and most of the liberal arts including law and political science had better head for an open camp as you will be considered troublemakers to the already structured society of the closed camp. Open areas will be like the old forts on the Oregon Trail during the westward movement. Diseases congregate in these areas, especially cholera so it is best to be immunized before hand in any case. Always boil your water if the source is unknown, or use purification tablets. You can also keep a bottle of Purex with you and can lightly chlorine your own water. A few drops go a long way...
Alternative Medicine is going to be important, just due to the fact other remedies will be in short supply. One has to be careful with herbs and they should be treated like aspirin or any other drug. To use alternative herb based medicines one has to know something about them. Check out A & A Vaughn's Special Products on the World Wide Web. Take this link to get to his Herb Garden.
Now here is the real tough part but it has to be addressed... During the exodus with cars and other vehicles practically bumper to bumper trying to get over a mountain pass to safety, you see an old car with the hood up, a young family beside it flagging for help. The woman has a baby and a toddler is at her side holding her hand. They want to live too... It may be raining or snowing, but if you try to stop, you can kill people behind you who just might have made it through before some avalanche or bridge failure seals the road. Normally the last vehicles through these areas are the emergency crews, police or military, and they will take care of the problem of the stranded people. We are a structured society and there are unspoken rules governing these things. You all have heard the story of the captain being the last off the ship as a matter of tradition. It is the chief engineer who keeps the power going and lowers the damn life boat so both he and the captain can play the silly game called "Honor". This is a duty thing... You are not to play this silly game! YOU KEEP GOING AND LIVE! That is your duty... We swore an oath and will do ours, please believe me...
Now is the time when we are faced with great changes for various reasons, in which survival of our species as well as others, becomes the bottom line for this planet. History tells us this is a cyclic thing, that it has happened before and shall happen again due to circumstances beyond our present control. Man, as well as other species, has learned there is safety in numbers for many reasons, and what really separates mankind from the rest of the animal kingdom is mans ability specialize as well as coordinate certain divisions of labor. For example, even buffalo will set up A defensive circle to keep the wolves from calves. Some animals stand sentry duty while others graze, while others lead the herd. Animals reason, their reason in some areas may or may not approach that of man, but the thought is there.
In short, this central coordinating reason is called government, and the strong protect the weak, young or old. For whales it is pods, for wolves it is packs, for lions, prides and for birds it is the banding to flock. As much as we decry and argue about central government issues, in times of great change, species band for the common good. The primary building block to good government is integrity and this is something built by a culture.
The sad fact is America has yet to determine just what its culture really is. This is why the idea of States existed, much like a building with many rooms, so if one did not like the way things were being run in one area, one could move to an area where people looked at things the same way. The foundation for this building was the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.
The difference between State and Federal jurisdiction over any key areas really do not exist, except for the ability for rapid changes, and a difference of special interest groups. All things have mass, and the larger the mass, the harder it is to change its direction. Local graft is just as damaging as national graft. I have lived in a series of small communities all my life, with an occasional city thrown in from time to time, and the same type of players always seem to end up controlling things, law or no law. Land ownership/wealth/power is the key in these arenas.
To look to see where Modern American cultural change really begins to happen starts with the events leading to the Civil War and States Rights. The wealthy of the North against the wealthy of the South. Slavery was really not the key issue, but a shift in power was, and this shift was based upon the power of land ownership giving way to the newly merging industrial wealth. Conservative landed aristocracy against what they felt was an inferior breed, the Yankee manufacturing opportunist.Northern industry was going to run things and the Southern gentry with massive land holdings were not going to buy it. When the new territories headed for statehood, denying slavery in these areas effectively limited the Southern system as far as expansion, and the south was the largest producer of raw material for textiles. He who controlled the shipping by land and/or sea was the same faction that controlled the textile mills, all of which were Northern based with strings to England. In short, we changed with the rest of the world with the advent of the industrial revolution...
Our system is a good one as it stands with just a few rule changes, but the problem becomes one of greed and power. Man is one of the very few species which actually preys on its own weak and age is not the issue. This has been the same problem as far back as recorded history can be traced, plus verbal knowledge which has been handed down which often considered myth or fable. One thing is for certain, and that is the fact man cannot truly have a fair system of government as long as man is in control of it. I hate to say this, but we have to have a symbiotic relationship with man and something which cannot be corrupted. Computer artificial intelligence based on Asimovís laws of robotics...
Such a machine is rapidly becoming a closer reality and many people do not understand really what is involved and are frightened of such a thing, afraid their individual freedom will be taken away. What freedoms? Try life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness... We are not discussing criminal matters here, but civil ones. For example, take all of our laws and run them through such a machine, and see how the editing comes out. The same thing could be done for criminal law. Take all of recorded history and do the same thing, all science as we know it, all findings not recognized by the sham of science as it exists, (Note: Nothing can be exactly duplicated. Our position in time and space for any given experiment being one problem.) and everything we have ever learned about economics.
Now there is much more, however after all of this is input for the machine, it still has to gather its own data, keep the good parts and do away with pieces which are detrimental to the entire planet. Then rules have to be set and kept...
We have a new generation of super computers here, and artificial intelligence is very close. The average person who values crime and graft, and the freedom to use these mediums still has the ability to try it even under the umbrella of these systems, however the machine will sit in judgment and will not see race, creed or economic position. Wealth and power would be greatly limited and performance based, but still exist. There would be many ways to set this up, and individual areas could still have their own local government but these bodies would have to work within a certain set of world parameters. Picture executive, legislative and judicial systems without special interest induced graft or political parties with their own selfish agendas. For example, there would be no bank robberies if it were impossible to rob the bank.
If substance abuse was not profitable, one would not have the large problem in this area as exists today. If these items were legal, a good portion of the public would lose interest in them, such is the mind of man. Those who developed problems with these substances would be given some of the drugs to prevent this, drugs that exist today. Cocaine or the coca plant has been in some cultures for millennium, and other plants reversed the addiction process, were known as well as used, and we are testing them now.
Now we could go on and on about the pros and cons, but the fact remains changes are coming rapidly now, and there will be great power shifts as well as a drastic drop in world population. It is after this time that we have to be ready to implement this structure so that means the first machines have to be built, loaded and safely placed where they can began learning.
There is good and bad in all things from human standpoint, for what is considered correct in one culture is not acceptable in another due to many diverse factors. The overlays of all the moral and religious issues would produce a guiding thread of truth after all the additions and subtractions are finished. The problem will be from powerful factions in all areas, including religion, which will resist displacement. Their problem is vision, for most cannot see the scope of the changes on the way, and those in high positions that are aware of the future problems waste time trying to desperately save an existing structure that is is destined to fail. Merely tell the moguls of Wall street and the banking industry that their services will no longer be needed for a 100 years, and watch the result...
Many of the religious groups consider a machine governed society is a godless one, and they are so wrong it hurts to think of it. They would supplant an honest machine approach with that of a corruptible one governed by their own leaders, leaders who want this very tried and failed status to endure. One merely has to listen to people such as the T.V. evangelists who are in the business strictly for gain, and then examine what has transpired throughout history to present day Iran, and the wisdom of Americaís founding fathers separating church from state manifests itself.
As far a present day meddling by religion in politics, I am of the opinion that if a group wishes to take part in the political discussion process to institute segments of their own particular faith, that group should be taxed like all other special interest parties.
I have spent more than just a little time playing the game of What if with the man on the street, and for the vast majority I have spoken to about the changes I found they could not even envision society existing at a level which we had merely 100 years ago, and most stated they would just as soon be dead. Many of them will get their wish before this is all over. Most sense change is coming, but they do not care to dwell on the consequences, and many cite stress an an excuse to avoid certain issues we all will face. I must point out at this time that stupidity is far more lethal...
The world has become a tightly woven mesh of graft, payola, market manipulation through illegal little side agreements, and when one gets closer to the top of the heap, one finds very powerful families which in some cases have had a few centuries or more to consolidate their interests. In Europe this is what is left of the royalty we in the west hear so much about, but this type of structure exists in other parts of the world. I can remember only too well when a man either worked or was unemployed, or self employed. There was one other classification. It was called A person or man of means. This was in polite circles. Those who were much more blunt about it called these people the idle rich. By the time the 60ís came around, this became somewhat publicly embarrassing and a great many of these people who inherited great wealth went to work, many in the public interest.
I had contact with one or two of these types when I went to Santa Barbara Junior High just before the turn of the 1960 s. In the eighth grade we had discussions about possible future careers and in those days the pressure was more so on the males, leaving the liberal arts to the females. One of the boys merely stated he was not going to do anything except play tennis and lay on the beach. Now many of the kids in this class came from the very wealthy upper class in the area, but most of their parentsí wealth was ìNew Moneyî and earned. Most of the Old Money kids were attending private schools except for a handful whose parents were considered progressive. I remember the feelings I had at that moment to this very day. I could not conceive of anyone just laying around. There were so many interesting things to do, like be a soldier or doctor, or modern farming, or build airplanes and rockets...
At this time even the world royalty work... Prince Andrew was at the Faulklands in the British Navy, and the Queen of England has many duties.
After our little shakeup, we will have a lot of things to do to enter into a class 1 civilization, and the rules will be very changed. There will be no idle rich. Not all persons are created ìequalî as the most liberal see it. Some people lead, and some follow just as it is on a school playground or college campus. Nothing will change this and I am not sure it should, for the same thing is natural for most herd animals, and yet the herd will do well with proper leadership. The problem is the passing of the power and excess wealth which is undeserved.
The machine would have final say in these matters... and keep an even parity while allowing for a rich but just cultural layering. Now I am not saying this will be easy, but man would be freed to work on other problems and the major one will be cleaning up and ultimately moving our homes underground, saving the surface for species that do not have our abilities. Our electrical power grid must also change, for Earth cannot sustain million of gigawatts of power pulsing at a frequency different from the natural rhythm of the planet.
All of this will have to be done before we will be ready, or I suspect, able to expand outwardly into the new frontier of space. The first step will be the new space station, the second, moon colonization, and then Mars. I also have the feeling this was done before, and at the very least it insures the preservation of our species. It becomes up to us to preserve the other species on this world, and this is already in progress, though we have to work much harder at this.
All in all, the individual as well as families and greater groups, should prepare for these changes with supplies for emergencies. To play on the web, talk about it, and do nothing is a waste of your time. All too often I have watched people who were going to Do Something and go into great detail just how they were going to accomplish their goals, then walk away satisfied in their own minds they had actually done what they set out to do, just with their rhetoric alone. Donít let your rhetoric get in the way of your survival...
Your routine and options for survival are covered in the Mobius Insight and the links. Mapquest can help you plan your routes. We here at GLO Industries are in the process of putting together a survival kit of our oils, manuals, and a few other items we feel are necessary for farm / shop survival. If you cannot get it apart, you cannot fix it! By using the software download button you will find the military manual for free downloading and you should keep one in your home shop or auto. As for our new kits, these will be comprised of gallon containers for remote hideaways or small farms, cache situations. We will also offer a small kit for the quick get-a -way, or the shooters kit is always handy as it has far more uses than just firearms. Call 1-800-310-6332 and ask for additional information about the herb products we also will be packaging, e-mail us or take the time to go through the site and pick your own hand built kit from our products and all over the web by following our links. We focus on machinery and how to keep it going long after it is designed to fail. For example: Do you know an old motor out of a car can be turned into a water pump for irrigation? This will be covered in the big survival kit as well as many other handy projects learned over a lifetime of making something from nothing. My youth was spent on a farm as well as at sea. Your easy time in this existence is running out but you can lighten the blow. Think about it...
Sincerely,
Allen D. Furford
