History

Grays Harbor

Prior to 1938 Elsie Johnson and Esther Sayer operated a Mission called the Lighthouse Mission. It was located kitty-corner from the old Breakwater Seafood building on "F" St. In 1938 the Union Gospel Mission of Grays Harbor was founded by a group of area churches. It began in the very same building as the Lighthouse Mission before moving just around the corner to 500 E. Heron and later to 405 E. Heron where it is still located today.
