I Weep For The Children

by Penny VanBrunt

A few of us remember when,

America was different then.

Prayers and Bibles in our schools,

morals, respect, these were the rules

taught to our children.

Our homes almost always had

living there both mom and dad.

Each evening dad the Word would share,

together they would kneel in prayer,

and pray with the children.

But today it is a different world.

No longer is there in our schools

Bibles, prayer, respect nor rules.

Hatred, drugs, violence too,

are what our children learn in school.

I weep for the children.

No longer in our homes is there

a loving mother filled with care,

but one who's always high on dope

or needs another drink to cope.

I weep for the children.

Instead of a loving dad we find

mom's boyfriend, he's a different kind.

Children are not to be seen nor heard,

he curses God in deed and word.

I weep for the children.

No love, no God, no faith, no hope,

only drugs and booze to cope.

Without Christ there is no hope!

A teenager is found at the end of a rope.

I weep for the children.

A father's hand raised in hate,

a beating given is her fate.

There is no love found in this home.

Into the streets she starts to roam.

I weep for the children.

No bed for sleep, no food to eat.

A man meets her in the street.

She wonders why she is alive,

she sells her body to survive.

I weep for the children.

"If it feels good, do it",

So they say.

A tiny life conceived this way,

unwanted, now is tossed away.

I weep for the children.

It's not a baby, just some flesh.

Get rid of it and end this mess!

Because of this a child will die

who never had a chance to cry

I weep for the children.

America, it's time to arise!

How long will you be deceived by lies?

No answer in politics is heard,

it can be found only in God's word!

True hope for the children.

So parents, read the Word and pray.

Talk with your children every day.

Teach them of God's unconditional love

and for life's answers to look above.

Let Christ center in your home

and peace therein is sure to come.

Let them see Christ in you,

and they will come to want Him too.

Then there will be no more need

to weep for the children!
