FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

QUESTION: How much does the class cost?

ANSWER: The registration fee for the Novice Class is $125 for subsidized classes and $200 for non-subsidized classes - ($50 for 16-17 year olds - subsidized classes). The Intermediate (INT) Class is $90.00

 

QUESTION: What is the difference between subsidized and non-subsidized classes?

ANSWER: There are no differences between subsidized and non-subsidized classes other than the registration fee (WA State DOL subsidizes a specific number of Novice classes within Washington State, but does not sponsor (subsidize) training costs for non-subsidized classes).

 

QUESTION: Who is eligible to register for a class?

ANSWER: Anyone aged 16 and over is eligible. ALL classes (subsidized or nonsubsidized) are available to ANY eligible applicant on a first-come basis. However, a student must have a valid Washington State Driver's License or Permit, or be military personnel stationed in Washington State. Other students are eligible, but will be required to pay full tuition-($250).

 

QUESTION: Will GHME, LLC accept "standby" students?

ANSWER: Yes, we do accept standby students. Be prepared to pay the class registration fee (either by cash or money order, no checks accepted on Friday), and be prepared to attend all class sessions (Friday evening, all day Saturday, and all day Sunday)

 

QUESTION: Where are the classes held?

ANSWER:  The classroom is located downstairs in the Emerson Manor Apartment building (703 Simpson Avenue Hoquiam, WA 98550) The range portion is held at 815 8th Street (at the end of 8th) in Hoquiam, WA

 

QUESTION:  How old do you have to be?

ANSWER: The minimum age is 16.  Students 16 and 17 years of age must have parent or legal guardian's permission, and their parent or guardian must be present to sign paperwork the first day of class.

 

QUESTION: What days and times are the classes held?

ANSWER: The Novice classes are Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday.  The Friday class starts promptly at 6:00pm, and lasts until aprx 10:00pm.  The Saturday class starts at 8am, and lasts until aprx 6pm.  The Sunday class starts at 8am, and lasts until aprx 6pm. NOTE: Please do not be late. If a student is late to Friday evening's class, or is a no show, he/she will forfeit the registration fee.

 

QUESTION:  Do I have to bring my own motorcycle?

ANSWER: GHME, LLC provides all motorcycles for the Novice Class.  The student’s provide their own motorcycles for the Intermediate (INT) Class.

 

QUESTION:  May a student bring his/her own motorcycle?

ANSWER: Yes, a student may bring his/her own motorcycle to the class. However, a student may not ride his/her own motorcycle on the GHME, LLC's Novice range.

 

QUESTION: Do I get a motorcycle endorsement after successfully completing the Novice Class?

ANSWER: GHME, LLC provides the student with a signed course completion card, after a student successfully completes the Novice Course.  A student will have 180 days to present this card to his/her local WADOL Office,   You WILL NOT need to take the WADOL Skill Riding, nor the WADOL written test.

 

QUESTION:  What do I need to bring to the Novice Classes?

ANSWER: You will need to bring paper/pencil or pen to Friday evening’s class.  For Saturday and Sunday’s Classes a student will be required to bring their motorcycle riding gear (legal helmet (GHME, LLC has a few loaner helmets available), full-fingered gloves, long shirt/jacket, over-the-ankle shoes (boots recommended), eye protection and   long pants (no sweats)-rain gear is recommended.

 

QUESTION: If it is raining and/or blowing will a class be cancelled?

ANSWER: The ONLY time classes will be cancelled is due to safety concerns:  ice and/or snow on the riding range; immovable large obstacles on the riding range.
