As I watch the unthinkable events unfold over and over
again from the September 11th. terrorist attacks, I can't
help wondering what will become of all of this. Where will
we go from here?
I am sure there are many military people, both past
and present, wondering the same thing and reliving the
horrors of past wars resurfacing in their minds. I know
first hand, being married to a Vietnam Veteran, that emotions
are running high right now. I, myself, tend to be a "turn the
other cheek" person, rather than "an eye for an eye"
individual.
However, I also know that as a Nation we must fight to
regain our freedom for our children and generations to come.
The freedom to travel safely here and abroad. The freedom
to go to work in a high-rise or anywhere, without fearing
for our lives and the lives of our loved ones. The very
same freedom and security we all knew at one time.
As the memories become less vivid in our minds, with
the passing of time, we can't forget what absolute freedom
stands for and what being an American is all about.
A Nation embracing each other and embracing what we
stand for is the only America that will be acceptable.
