The
others were all fast asleep in their capsules as the Old One finally
positioned Miles. Miles looked up at O.O. as he started to close
the lid of the sleeping chamber. "One last question...I have
the distinct feeling you were the navigator for the Ark and possibly
the chief engineer. Old Noah's number one man. Am I correct?"
The Old One smiled. "You are... It was my chance to correct my personal mistakes and start over again. Enki knew this and made the arrangements. The man currently known as Noah really didn't have anything to say about the situation. How did you know that engineering was my first love?"
"I guessed as much after I saw you go to work on the sub. It takes an engineer to understand one... Which one of the "Chosen" are you?"
"This may surprise you as it did me, but you might say Ea was my genetic grandfather on my mother's side of the family..."
"Enki! Then you are...?"
The Old One looked thoughtfully down into
his eyes as he sealed the lid. The last sound Miles heard before
the gas pulled him into deep sleep came as a whisper...
