COPY OF WILL OF JAMES WELLS3.
"In the name of God--amen.
"I, James Wells, of Fairfield County and State of Ohio, being weak in body, but of
sound and perfect mind
and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form
following (that is to say):--
"First, I give and bequeath unto my sons James and John the Plantation I now live on,
which is to be sold
and a Proportionable part to be deducted to pay my debts.
"I do also give and bequeath unto my two youngest daughters all my Personal estate,
except a negro girl
and a Proportionable part to be deducted to pay my debts.
"I do also give and bequeath unto my nephew, Thomas Wells, Fifty Dollars, of which
each of the above
mentioned children is to pay an equal part.
"I do also give and bequeath unto my two sons and two daughters as above mentioned, a
negro girl,
which is to be sold and equally divided.
"I hereby appoint George Tong and Samuel Tolman sole executors of this my last will
and testament,
hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
"In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of January in
the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and fourteen.
"Signed, sealed, published and declared by above mentioned James Wells to be his last
Will and Testament
in the presence of us, who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the
presence of this Testator.

"P. S.--My oldest children (to-wit):--Mary McCall, Sally Tolman, Rachel Wilson, Hona
Reaves,
having previously had their portion their names were omitted in the body of this
testament.
GEORGE WELLS. JAMES WILSON.
"Fairfield County, Ohio. At a court of Common Pleas, holden for said county, the 7th
day of February, 1814,
the foregoing last will and testament is produced in Court and is Proven by George
Wells and James Wilson,
the two subscribing witnesses thereto, on which it is ordered to be recorded.
Attest: HUGH BOYLE, Clerk."
