CHRISTIAN EDUCATION CLASSES AND OTHER GROUPS

At Calvary Lutheran Church, there are Christian Education opportunities offered for all ages. They include:
Adult Inquiry Class
The Inquiry Class explores the doctrinal beliefs of our faith. The class provides instruction in the basic teachings of Scriptures as understood by the Lutheran Church. It is an excellent opportunity for those who wish to examine what we believe. For dates and times, contact the Church Office Secretary or the Pastor. Those who wish to become members of the congregation are invited to do so upon completion of this class.
Confirmation Class
Seventh and eighth graders are urged to become members of the Confirmation Class. Each month from September to March a confirmation is held. During the class students learn the teachings of the Lutheran Church. Upon completion of this class the young person may be received into Communicant Membership.
Ladies Morning Bible Study
This is a weekly Bible study for ladies, usually held during the middle of the week from September to June. The group usually studies one book of the Bible at a time, exploring applications for daily living.
Sunday School
Our Sunday School program provides classes for people from three years old through adult. We have an excellent teaching staff. In addition to classes for the different age levels of children, individual classes are also offered for Junior High, Senior High and Adults. Vacation Bible School
Calvary offers Vacation Bible School for youth from age four through sixth grade. This annual event takes place for one week during June, July or August. Our success in this area has been attributed to the excellent staff of teachers, helpers, and kitchen crew that is put together each year. For dates contact the Church Office Secretary.

In addition to these classes, there are several groups which include Bible study as well as fellowship and service. They are:
Calvary's Ladies Guild
This group of ladies meets on the first Thursday of each month at noon from September to May. Each meeting begins with a luncheon served by a different Group of hostesses each month. The luncheon is followed with a devotion led by Pastor. During the business portion of the meeting, plans for service projects which the ladies participate in throughout the year are discussed. "O.W.L.S" (Older Wiser Lutheran Seniors)
This lively group of Senior Citizens meets once a month. Each meeting opens with a devotion, which is followed by discussion of possible service-outreach projects to be done by the group. The meetings continue with different fellowship activities which often correspond with the holiday of the month, i.e. Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, etc. For dates and times consult the newsletter or the bulletin. Youth Groups
The three-fold purpose of Calvary 's youth program is for youth to: Grow spiritually, have fellowship with other Christian youth, and serve the congregation and community. Calvary has both a Junior High youth group, and a Senior High youth group. Each group has its individual meetings twice a month. The meetings involve a topical Bible study, planning, and fellowship. In addition to meetings, a variety of youth activities are scheduled throughout the year. For dates and times contact the church office.
Small Group Bible Studies
Occasionally, a small group or a home Bible study forms as the need arises. For further information, contact the Church Office Secretary.
Groups whose purpose is to enhance worship services are:
Altar Guild
Calvary's Altar Guild consists of ladies who are responsible for preparing the altar for Holy Commuion, changing the different colored paraments according to the church year, taking; care of the candles and the flowers for the altar, keeping robes worn by pastor, elders, and candlelighters clean, and keeping the chalice and wafer tray, and the candle and flower holders well polished. The guild has an organizational meeting once a year to assign a different pair of ladies to handle the altar tasks for each month of the year. Choir
The choir provides an enriching experience for both the congregation and the choir members. vocal as well as instrumental talents of members are utilized to enhance the worship services. For more information, contact the Church Office.
